How He's Raised Turns One

Yesterday, my blog turned a year old.
I honestly and truly cannot believed, and yet, I can at the same time. I have learned SO much since that hot, summer day in July 2015.

This time last year, I was a brand new mother, trying to figure everything out. And while I may not be so new at parenting anymore, still I'm trying to figure it out. My inner computer nerd has emerged though, and I can (more or less) at least pretend to keep my head afloat when discussing websites, SEO, HTML, and all that other jazz.

Over the course of this year-long journey, I have interacted with countless amazing, and talented bloggers. This community is definitely one of the reasons I've made it so far. I walked in as a bewildered soul, fresh baby vomit on my shirt, and my hair a mess. And then I learned, this is what motherhood looks like. It looks like not sleeping, and shoveling food down my gullet in the 5 milliseconds that my son sleeps. It's late nights, discovering myself, appreciating motherhood for what it is.

Throughout this year, and throughout my discovery of other bloggers, I have truly found some amazing gems that I would be robbing if I did not mention them.

This year, I learned of the deep love that I have for photography. Though my skills are far from professional, I can very often be found with my camera in hand. Right alongside my passion for photographing candid moments, I unearthed my hidden admiration for writing. After having a go on YouTube during my pregnancy, I quickly learned I'd much rather be behind a keyboard than in front of a camera.

I've also discovered my absolute OBSESSION with all things natural, and my family's downright passion for being outdoors.

I would love to take a moment and share some of my favorites of the year:
Richa totally helped create my new weekly almond milk habit. Every week now, I make a nice jar of almond milk for my entire family, which we enjoy much MUCH more than regular milk.
Kula Mama has saved my family COUNTLESS cold/flu episodes this year after I discovered one of the best-kept secrets: Elderberry Syrup!
Lara has really helped ease my mind about my son's future as a gluten-free (and paleo!) kid.
Nadine's post on breastfeeding has really REALLY saved my sanity during the tough spots of breastfeeding, and I'm now still happily nursing my toddler.
And Barb's advice on herbs and other natural remedies has helped my family come completely off of any pills.
Of course, I absolutely cannot forget Franca and #KCACOLS which has REALLY helped me understand blogging and linkies. Every week, she connects me with HUNDREDS of bloggers from across the ocean-it truly is wonderful.

Of course, I absolutely would not be here without my boys, the ones who stick with me through everything. The ones who were there when I had my first run-in with technical difficulties, and the ones who celebrated with me when I published my first post on an online magazine.

My blog has grown immensely over the past 365 days, reaching over 55,000 views (55,904).

And I cannot wait to see what the next year brings. Thanks so much for joining me on this incredible journey.

Until next time,
Savannah
